Talk: Studying at MIT: the four year struggle

01.10.2019 0 comments admin

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private engineering school in Cambridge, MA. It takes the first place in QS World University Rankings for 2019, and it is considered to be the best engineering school in the world. The lecture opens up a window to what it is like to study at MIT and survive between lectures, “psets”, and exams from someone with a firsthand experience. MIT is an institution with a difficult curriculum but one that offers a myriad of out-of-class opportunities, from building robots to foreign exchange programs, from research conferences to creative activities, such as theater and k-pop dancing. There will be anecdotes and stories, and you will learn the meaning of the phrase “I am 6-3”, which has actually nothing to do with height. Come join us for the lecture if you are curious about MIT or would like to find out more about US universities in general. All are welcome!

Language of the lecture: English

Led by Marie Menshova, AMC volunteer. Marie holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science and engineering from MIT (2017) and a master of arts degree in economics from Columbia University (2019). She is passionate about education and would like to make US colleges and universities more accessible to students by providing more information about them from personal experience. Marie is half American and half Russian. She is originally from Moscow, Russia.
